In a world aimed at convenience, controlling what goes into our bodies can be quite challenging. Over time the toxins we ingest overwhelm our natural detoxifying mechanisms and build up in our blood and tissues. It’s easy to be sucked into the “quick-fix” remedies marketed to us daily. However, it’s important to remember, there’s no such thing as health in a bottle, no matter how good a remedy is. When tackling tough illnesses, one MUST employ different therapies and tools to achieve full and optimum health. We like to say that so many diseases are dynamically harmful to many aspects of the body, so it is absolutely vital that your counterattack be equally dynamic, reaching all different layers of the body. The good news in all of this is there is something we can do to combat the constant exposure to these toxins, a number of things really, but let’s focus on removing the build-up. We can achieve a higher level of healing through regimented detox practices. Below you will find all sorts of information on different detox practices you can implement into your healing journey.

Detox Baths

Ease-in to Better Health

Our bodies eliminate toxins through four major organs: the colon (assisted by the liver), kidneys, lungs, and skin. A hydrogen peroxide bath can help to cleanse and purify our skin, destroy toxins, foreign organisms, and even pull out the residues left by soap. The Hydrogen Peroxide essentially draws out the toxins through the skin. We then add the benefits of Epsom Salts, which have been shown to reduce inflammation, arthritic symptoms, and improve circulation & heart health. These baths (through the skin) are also the best way to absorb Magnesium and Sulfate (both of which play an important roll in brain tissue and joint protein development.) Add in some essential oils for their added benefit, and you’ve got one POWERFUL bath. The first time you take one of these baths, be sure to notice the residue left behind afterward. You’ll be amazed!

Full Body Epsom Salt/Hydrogen Peroxide Bath

 

 

  • 2 quarts Hydrogen Peroxide

     

  • 2-6 cups of Epsom Salts

     

  • A few drops of your favorite JN remedy or essential oil

     

     

  • A bathtub full of water as hot as you can tolerate

     

Directions:

 

 

Pour hydrogen peroxide, Epsom Salt, and a few drops of your favorite JN Remedy or essential oil into a hot bath making sure to mix well as the tub fills. Ease in, relax and soak for no longer than 20 minutes. Repeat these baths for seven consecutive days, or as recommended by your healthcare practitioner. After the initial 7 days we recommend a bath 3 times a week as needed. However, even weekly or monthly baths will provide some benefit.

Epsom Salt/Hydrogen Peroxide Foot Bath

 

  • 1/2 quart Hydrogen Peroxide

     

  • 1/2 cup Epsom Salts

     

  • A few drops of your favorite JN remedy or essential oil

     

     

  • Clean, non-toxic bucket

     

     

Caution:

If irritation occurs, rinse yourself off with clear water immediately. You may want to try again using 1 pint of hydrogen peroxide. Women with vaginitis often experience temporary irritation and should begin with the lower dose. Always use caution when exiting a tub. Light-headedness may occur.

Infrared Saunas

The Better Way to Sweat

    Infrared saunas are on a whole different level than those sweat boxes you’ll find in your local YMCA, and one of our favorite detox tools. Infrared light is the same as the heat you experience from the rays of sunshine that penetrate through the skin to activate a variety of invaluable bodily functions. Most toxins reside deep inside your cells, so simply heating up the air around you like regular saunas do isn’t going to get you very far. I couldn’t possibly stress enough how beneficial this could be to your healing…

    Infrared saunas will help the body heal by increasing the body temperature to burn up the bacteria and viruses. It is also a good idea to take deep breaths to get the hot air into the lungs. The infrared sauna detoxifies the body of heavy metals and toxins that are locked up in the fat cells. Heavy metals and toxins are known to promote an environment in the body that is a microbe heaven. They cause over-cooling of the body, hypersensitivities, allergic tendencies, and direct toxic effects on the body as a whole.

Oil Pulling

Spit It Out

    Oil pulling is a very simple and inexpensive, yet highly effective, therapy that gets really quite remarkable results. We generally use unrefined coconut oil, but sesame oil, olive oil, and sunflower seed oil have been shown to be beneficial as well. Not only does it promote oral health by killing bacteria and whitening the teeth, but it also has been shown to improve the lymphatic system, relieve migraine headaches, reduce inflammation from arthritis, reduce a hangover after too much alcohol consumption, alleviate allergies, detoxify the body from harmful metals and organisms, just to name a few.

Directions

Step 1:

    In the morning before you eat anything, pour 1 tablespoon of oil into your mouth.

Step 2:

    Gently swish the oil around your mouth for 20 minutes. Make sure to get around your tongue, through your teeth, be thorough, but DO NOT GARGLE.

Step 3:

Saturday at 6 pm   Eat a dinner of Home-made Whipping Cream and fruit; the whipping cream contracts the gallbladder; any fruit is acceptable, but berries are best, either fresh or frozen.

Saturday, Half an hour before bedtime put 1 tablespoon of the Bentonite in 1 glass of water, mix well (Start by adding water slowly), and drink.

Saturday at Bedtime drink ½ cup of Olive Oil; ½ cup of grapefruit, or lemon juice may be added, if desired. **Shake the oil and citrus juice together in a jar until frothy.** Take a deep breath. Drink the mixture “briskly” or take sips over 5 to 10 minutes. Sipping this “salad dressing” through a straw is the easiest for many people. You may feel a little nauseous, which is natural. Breathe deeply! Brush your teeth well and head for bed. Don’t clean up the kitchen.


**Note: You can replace Olive Oil with other cold pressed oil like: sunflower oil, coconut oil, walnut oil, almond oil, hazelnut oil, cashew oil, peanut oil, grape seed oil, sesame seeds oil, hemp oil, flax seeds oil, or other natural plant oil. If you are using lemon juice, it may be easier to sip each liquid separately, using the lemon juice as a chaser for the oil, as the two tend to form a gel when mixed which may be more challenging to swallow. Grapefruit juice doesn’t usually gel in this way.**

**It is important that you lie down immediately** after taking the oil in order to release the most stones. Lie on your RIGHT side with your knees tucked if you can (fetal position). Stay still for at least 20 minutes before you change positions. You will likely hear a lot of gurgling “down there” which is a good sign that the oil is at work. Of course you can change positions during the night. Go to sleep and stay in bed as long as possible.

Sunday afternoon —  Don’t plan to go ANYWHERE. You may feel weak and will be busy cleansing. Break your fast with juice and fruit, light soup and steamed vegetables. You can resume your regular healthy eating habits Sunday evening starting with some leafy green vegetables.
